“It didn’t take me long to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. My elementary school principal didn’t call me ‘The Mouth of the South’ for no reason. I could TALK and make people laugh. I also loved to write stories. So, naturally, I chose to become a news reporter.  The challenging part was figuring out what made me stand out. There are so many talented journalists on TV.  It took time and experience to find the answer. It all boils down to not trying so hard to be someone I’m not. My voice is my natural voice and my personality is the same personality you get at the grocery store. When I figured out how to be authentically me on camera, I found my comfort zone.”
